Chiodos fires frontman

Craig Owens . Chiodos

In a statement issued on the band's MySpace, Chiodos announced that lead singer, Craig Owens, has been let go. Out of respect to everyone involved, no details on the matter were disclosed. No comments have been made from the former frontman on his Twitter, who recently finished a series of solo tour dates. The separation comes as a surprise after Owens announced his solo project during this past summer's Warped Tour, but assured fans he was still in Chiodos. The band will continue on without Owens and seem eager to begin work on their next album.

Muse outsmarts Italian TV...

Muse recently performed on an Italian TV program which, to our knowledge, is notorious for fake performances. Once realizing this, the clever men of Muse decided to pull a fast one on the show by switching instruments, and vocals, and well, barely playing along. Kudos guys, you're smarter than Italian TV.

9:30 Club highlight show of the month

Tennessee based singer, Mat Kearney, will be returning to the 9:30 Club in Washington DC on September 24 with songs off of his latest album, City of Black and White. Tickets are on sale and available at 930.com

VMA's... does MTV even still play music videos?

So last night MTV hosted their infamous Video Music Awards in New York City. Once again, the show was focused more on lame jokes, controversy, and well anything but talent in music videos. Highlights include: A tribute to the late Michael Jackson.... that's about it. What we did learn is: it's very ironic that a station named for Music Television which no longer airs music videos can still host music video awards, Kayne West is an official douchebag (we apologize if that's not PC... but seriously? Taking a 17 year old's one moment?), Pink can actually runaway with the circus now, Lady Gaga bleeds and Music is one of the few bands left with any talent.

Since no one has really seen any of the videos that won last night, Barricade Buzz thought it would be fitting to highlight some music videos from the last year that were overlooked by MTV (or really, VH1).

Go Big, or Go Home

Check out the stage set up for U2's world tour. It's insane. The kicker? Because several pavilion like set ups have been created, the plan is to recycle them once the tour is complete. Check out this video from BBC.
