New Video: Yellowcard

With familiar violin harmonies, and a pop-punk sound that will forever remind us of the California coast, comes the new music video "For You and Your Denial," from Yellowcard. Re-emerging to the scene since the band took their hiatus in 2008, their new release, When You're Through Thinking, Say Yes! hits stores everywhere March 22nd.

Yellowcard will be on tour throughout the spring providing direct support to Maryland natives, All Time Low. We look forward to seeing these California pop punk rocker veterans at the 9:30 Club on March 28th!

Jimmy Eat World goes to college

photos by Amy Willard

Last week, emo rockers took over the Dodd Auditorium at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA. The college hosted event was opened by Dave Bazan and his band.

Fans of Pedro the Lion, Bazan's former band, rejoiced as he announced he would be playing songs from his previous gig citing, "For those who remember that band Pedro the Lion, we're basically that, just a different name, so we'll be playing some of those songs for you."

To which the crowd responded quite loudly with, "PENETRATION!" A song off of their 2009 release, Control.

Shortly after 9 P.M. the seated auditorium rose to its feet as Jim Adkins,
Tom Linton, Rick Burch, and Zach Lind took the stage along with guest keyboardist and vocalist for this tour, Courtney Andrews.

Opening with "Bleed American," Jimmy Eat World re-ignited a connection with long time fans, as they transitioned to new material from their 2010 release, Invented.

The set lasted over an hour and featured famed ballads like "Hear You Me," and "23." The night concluded with their current single, "Invented," and past hits, "The Middle," and "Sweetness."

As Adkins concluded the night wailing, "Are you listening?" it was clear by the thunderous response from the audience that they indeed were.

Catch Jimmy Eat World on tour through April!

Club rock con't

Tokyo Police Club returned to Washington DC in January after having defeated DC rapper Wale last fall in the Red Bull Soundclash. Judging by the sold out and uber responsive crowd, it's no wonder these Brooklyn rockers were able to come out on top.

Club rock

Last month Two Door Cinema Club rocked the 9:30 Club in Washington DC with their up-beat melodies, and dance beats. Sending a sold out crowd of DC "hispster" adorned in the ever popular flannel button down and square frames into a massive dance party.

Break-up or Make-up: LCD Soundsytem

Earlier this week we learned that The White Stripes have called it quits, DFA Records have posted "A message from LCD Soundsystem." The message reads:

good people of earth:
lcd soundsystem are playing madison square garden on april 2nd, and it will be our last show ever. we are retiring from the game. gettin’ out. movin’
on. but for just one more night, we will be playing with friends and family for nearly 3 hours–playing stuff we’ve never played before and going out with a bang. and we’d like you to be there.

if you would, we’d love it if people all came in white. or black. or black and white. and come ready to have fun, please. and come early, as the festivities will be opened by our favorites, liquid liquid. yes: liquid
liquid.

if it’s a funeral, let’s have the best funeral ever!!!

Pretty surprising news coming from a band that spent last summer gracing the stages of the U.S.'s famed music festivals.
