Say Anything arrive in Maryland Friday

Los Angeles based rock band, Say Anything, will arrive in Towson, Md on Friday at the Recher Theatre. Armed with their third album, a self-titled 12-song collection, the band will play to a sold out crowd with tourmates, the Miniature Tigers, Moneen, and Eisley.

The RCA Records release aims to "step outside tradition," according to frontman, Max Beemis, and does just that with its universal appeal. Anyone who pops in Say Anything will surely find themselves relating to the uplifting lyrics of newfound trust and self discovery.

If you're lucky enough to have your tickets to Fridays show, Barricade Buzz will see you there! If not, tickets are still available to the 11/7 show at the Norva in Virginia.

Boston native keeps musical gift alive

By Wes Filer

“EZ-ily” considered one of the finest musicians in and around his hometown of Boston, Emeen Zarookian is far more than just your average songwriter. Blessed with an ear for melody and harmony, Zarookian started playing in a local ska band called Mass Hysteria when he was still a teenager.
While attending nearby Emerson College (class of 2006) for Audio Engineering, he quickly built a reputation of being the “go-to guy” for not only audio assistance on student films, but also for providing original music as well.
Along with Alex and Chris Stern, Zarookian formed the core of the popular indie-pop rock act called the Sterns.
Their first album, Say Goodbye to the Camera, was selected by the Boston Metro as one of their Top 10 local albums of 2005. The band’s 2006 follow-up album, Sinners Stick Together, was applauded by the website allmusic.com as “a pop masterpiece whose music is as enticing as its themes are thought-provoking.”
After crisscrossing the country countless times and a memorable stint at SXSW, the Sterns called it a day, which did nothing to slow down Zarookian’s work ethic – allowing him to explore other avenues of audio expertise.
After serving as an audio editor for the cartoon comedy series Assy McGee, he found himself working as a sound designer/composer for Rock Band 2 and Beatles Rock Band, both widely popular music-based video games. While designing and composing sound, he still pursued his passion for making original music.
Zarookian is a full time touring member of Brooklyn's Elizabeth and the Catapult as well as Eli Paper Boy Reed & the True Loves. He is also the front man and chief songwriter for his own solo outfit simply called The Emeen Z band, whose song “You Lit Up For Me,” was featured as a promotional tie-in with the original Showtime series Weeds. Zarookian currently lives in the New England area
